Saab 9-3x SportCombi, of which less than 500 were sold in the US.

I see a 9-3 wagon of this generation in my work parking lot quite frequently, doesn’t look particularly special. Does the x and the SportCombi make it something more appealing? Not familiar with Saab nomenclature.

Sportcombi just means wagon (the one you see is also a Sportcombi)
, but the “x” mean’s it’s a lifted AWD version. Basically, the one you see is the equivalent to a Volvo V70, and this is like a Volvo XC70, only very rare.

And even more rare, you can get the 9-3X Turbo, or turbo X, or something like that...

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking to myself, “Goddamn, I see these all the time...”

In front of a book store. Appropriate.

*bite lips* I miss all of my Saabs. This is a beautiful example.
The TurboX Sportcombi is the holy grail, especially one with a manual transmission. I think the number is in the low teens.
However, they come with a caveat, the Haldex AWD is a picky mofo. The rear end has to be tended to on a regular basis and even then, it can just blow. The parts are astronomical and hard to find. Last I heard, it shared the rear end with a LaCrosse AWD but that was still iffy.
*sigh* I miss my Saabs.

Yeah in black it’s hard to see all the cladding which is the biggest visual distinction.
